Find out more about the CITB levy and how construction businesses can benefit from training their workforce via an ATO such as Alpha Training.
The British construction industry has suffered as a result of the Pandemic but is continuing to recover to pre-pandemic levels, according to recent ONS figures. Construction businesses are reliant on a skilled and experienced workforce who can carry out their work effectively and safely. Regular and high-quality training is an important part of enabling construction workers to do so.
What is the CITB levy?
The CITB is the industry training board for the construction sector. As part of its endeavour to support the British construction industry, the CITB raises an annual levy. The CITB states:
“The Levy is an annual payment made by employers/contractors to support reinvestment into the construction industry. It allows companies to access grants to support the delivery of apprenticeships or improving the skills of its existing workforce.”
The levy enables registered construction businesses to claim back £30 per delegate on approved training courses.
Alpha Training is an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) and as such, we offer our approved training courses through the training directory on the CITB website. Our courses have been vetted and approved so you can be assured that they will cover relevant skills and learning outcomes. Here’s a list of all the approved courses that Alpha currently offer:
- Confined Spaces in Construction Introduction
- Confined Spaces in Construction Medium Risk
- Confined Spaces in Construction High Risk
How do you claim the CITB levy when booking training?
Customers can book a CITB approved course via the website or by getting in touch with our booking team. As part of the booking process, you can let the team know that you wish to claim the levy. We will in return send you a CITB Learner Registration Details form which is to be completed and returned prior to attending the course.
Once the delegate attends and passes the course, our booking team will upload the delegate’s achievement within 10 days of the course, into a portal which sits there ready for the customer to claim back the levy.
